Abadia Retuerta 1998

Bought this wine ages ago, can't remember when. The label is " Abadia Retuerta - Seleccion Especial - 1998 - Sardon de Duero - Vinedos Propios".
70% Tempranillo, the balance is Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
Typical portuguese nose and palate - full plummy berry fruit, liquorice, sweet, good balance. Not the type of wine I'd go for everyday, or drink without food, very distinctive and well made. Opened 6 hours before dinner - excellent pairing with a chicken casserole. Definitely needed time to breath, nose very closed when opened.
